Hot Forge Presses Technology

Leading the industry in forge press technology improvements. Our X-Series forge presses as shown in photo’s includes larger bushing housings on the eccentric shaft, faster clutch heat dissipation, X-Angle slide guidance allows for thermal expansion and closer tolerances just to name a few of the major improvements.

 

The FPX Series is available from 440 to 4400 ton in non geared and back geared drive systems that are ideal for single hit or fully automated multi hit forging process with servo drive transfer systems. COLD FORGE KNUCKLE JOINT PRESS LINES FROM 440 TO 1200 TON

Cold Forge Press

Our KNP Line of heavy-duty cold forge presses are available in a range from 440 ton to 1200 ton for your forging process. The front to back knuckle joint drive provides the high compression and dwell action required to optimize material flow in your dies.

 

The mono-block press frames are heat-treated and stress-relieved and the drive train incorporate a wet clutch and brake.

 

The photo shows our 880 ton which is fully automated. Hopper feed conveyor, slug sensor, gravity load chute, 4 station servo drive transfer system and part ejection to weighing station.

 

All Sutherland forge presses come standard with our I-PRESS® FORGE & Automation control. System standard is the safest and most intuitive press control on the market. I-PRESS® is built on a Rockwell AB hardware and software platform with 4.0 industry standards.

CORED FORGE LONG STROKE PRESSES SAVE MATERIAL

Cold Forge Presses and Product Sample

Our LSP series cored forge presses are available from 440 ton to 1200 ton. As shown in the photos material savings up to 50% can be achieved with cored forging, reducing scrap and secondary operations. The down acting long slide stroke activates our lower die hydraulic cored forging unit which pushes the die pins into the material.

 

One of our customers in the Southern states manufactures the highest quality connection systems for transmission, distribution, substation and industrial projects. We installed the following equipment to get their new plant up and running, slug cutting saw, collection bins, bin tipper to heating furnace, LSP-600 Cored Forge press and 19 sets of tooling.

SERVO HYDRAULIC FORGE PRESSES FROM 100 TO 3000 TON

Servo Hydraulic Press Photo

Our HD Series servo hydraulic presses offer some unique advantages to forging companies. Programmable job profiles allow position, speeds and pressures to change up to 7 times throughout the stroke.

 

The I-PRESS® SERVO HYDRO press and automation control manages our fluid management system from servo motor, high pressure pump, manifold mounted dual safety valves.

 

Press frames are heat-treated after welding. Slide is guided by eight (8) point taper wedge slide guides with high compression bronze liners. Upper and lower hydraulic ejectors can be individually controlled via the I-PRESS® control.

We have built in standard features that most control builders charge for as options. Tonnage Monitor, Programmable Cams and Die Protection, Job Memory Storage, Programmable Slide Adjustment, Thermal Bearing Temperature Sensors, Multiple Batch Counters, Maintenance Monitor, Over 100 item Fault Monitor, etc..

 

We partner with the best when it comes to hardware and software platforms, Rockwell AB, Siemens and Omron are amongst our key suppliers.
